Govt will take a fresh view on land reforms: Nitish

Patna, Sep 22 (PTI) Under attack from the Opposition on issues related to sharecroppers, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said the government will take a fresh view on the matter once the high-level committee appointed to make suggestions on the issue submits its final report.

"After receiving suggestions from the high-level committee, we will take a fresh view on the issue and decide what to do," he told reporters.

He said the D Bandopadhyay Commission on land reforms had made various recommendations on land related issues in Bihar, but the state government had only endorsed its suggestions on ceiling surplus land and 'bhudan' land.

The panel suggested 75 per cent share for sharecroppers in the yield and they could take bank loan on land they tilled.
