Patna: The journey from Sussex to Bihar's Kishanganj district is a long one. But for Linda Barr, who is not a run-of-the-mill visitor to India, the journey is a special one.
She has travelled all the way from UK to Kishanganj to fulfill her father's last wishes.
Her father David Barr was the District Magistrate of Purnia during the British rule.
"My purpose to visit India is to return my father's ashes to the country that he really loved and became a part of him. He worked in India for 36 years of his life. He came here as part of India Civil Services,” Linda says.
Linda's stopover included all the places where her father had served. After Kishanganj, the next destination was the official chamber of the Patna District Magistrate.
A strong spiritual bonding has brought Linda back to Bihar. The journey is also a nostalgic one because she was born in India.
"The whole feeling is quite incredible. It's so much part of my past that I'm able to feel the present and my father's ashes are here to rest in peace,” Linda says.
David Barr's bond with India was such that his last rites were performed according to Hindu rituals and now with his ashes immersed in the Mahananda River, his daughter wants to keep the association with India alive.
