PATNA: After the mega "Global Meet on Resurgent Bihar", there is a move to hold a major science convention on "Scientific, Foresight-2007" in the state capital. Already some outstanding scientists from across the world have given their consent to attend the three-day meet expected to be held at S K Memorial Hall here later this month. "The motive is to acquaint academicians, students and industrialists with the changes occurring around the world," said science and technology principal secretary Ajay Thakur. He said that he was expecting the consents of many more leading scientists from India and abroad to participate in the meeting. The three-day event will have sessions on information technology, electronics, automobile, fundamental science & technology, career counselling for students, current industrial trends, bio medicine, manufacturing engineering process and agri technologies. It will also have separate sessions for higher education in India and abroad and one on "Science and Spirituality". The list of invitees includes Dr Waris Shere of Canada — who has authored eight books on applied maths, career coach of the US-based Dewer, Liz Ryan, W J Warsi and Dr M Omair - both scientists working in US universities, besides scientists from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. The event will be sponsored by several organizations. The three-day event will bring scientists, academicians, entrepreneurs, experts and young scholars from India and abroad on a common platform for exchanging ideas on contemporary science, technology and more. "This is the only event of its kind to bring together over 200 experts from India and abroad. These experts come from various science/technical disciplines and institutes. More than 4000 students are expected to participate," Kumar said. It will have 10 seminar sessions and display of industrial products, models and innovative posters. Paper presentations and panel discussions will be held in the three-day meet. Kumar said that "Scientific, Foresight-2007" will help restore Bihar’s rightful place as the center for intellectual discourse. Bihar has been the most revered seat of higher education in the past and has produced great minds like Aryabhatt, Rishi Shushrut and Chanakya, just to name a few. However what makes this event unique, Kumar added, is the participation of a large number of students. The event is a result of the efforts of students from the region encouraged by professionals from industry connected through various online channels.
