Schemes worth Rs 4.44cr for Patna City

PATNA: CM Nitish Kumar on Sunday launched various developmental schemes worth Rs 4.44 crore at Mangal Talab in Patna City and promised to develop the walled city into a tourist spot. The schemes for which the foundation stones were laid included a stadium with a jogging track at a cost of Rs 1.17 crore. The stadium will be named after slain trader Manoj Kamalia. An auditorium and a community hall will also be constructed at a cost of Rs 2.15 crore. While the auditorium will be named after an 1857 warrior, Ghasita, the community hall will be built in the memory of Ramdeo Mahto. The open air theatre — named after Pannalal Yadav — will be constructed at a cost of Rs 45 lakh. Other schemes included a car parking, a plaza cafe and a toilet at a combined cost of Rs 46 lakh. About 50 organisations, including the Jain Samaj, Sikh Samaj, Marwari Yuva Manch and Rotary Club, felicitated Nitish and praised his works, particularly for the trading community. In view of problems in the drinking water supply, the CM also issued orders regarding sinking of a new boring at Belwagunj and renovation of old borings at Tulsi Mandi and other places. He said all ghats will be spruced up. Conceding the demand of the local people, he ordered for the posting of traffic police at some suggested spots to regulate the traffic. Minister for road construction and tourism Nand Kishore Yadav, Bihar Chamber of Commerce president O P Sah and others were present on the occasion. Nitish said the fear factor has gone from the hearts of the people. He said he would continue with his plank of development with justice, "come what may".
