Patna
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) national general secretary and party spokesman Shyam Rajak has quit all party posts following differences with senior party functionaries.
"I have resigned from all organisational posts but will continue to work for the party as a loyal soldier," Rajak toldmedia today. Stating that he had forwarded his resignation to RJD boss and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad by post last evening, he declared loyalty to party president, saying"I will be with Lalu Prasad till my last breath and pray to god that if I am reborn the almighty should bestow on me the favour to serve my leader once again."
Rajak, who was a minister in Rabri Devi-led government, was rewarded with the post of national general secretary and spokesman for his personal loyalty to Lalu and Rabri. He was also nominated to 11-member powerful core group and was in-charge of the youth and students wings of the party.
" Work is more important to me than post. I will work as a dedicated and committed soldier of RJD during the coming elections," he said, refusing to divulge contents of his resignation letter."It is an internal matter of the party and I am not supposed to divulge it to the media. All I can say is that there must be a limit to humiliation," he said.
Asked if he had spoken to the party supremo after sending the missive, Rajak replied in the affirmative, but again declined to disclose what transpired during the talk.
Rajak, however, said party president was yet to receive his letter. Party insiders said on condition of anonymity that Rajak had strained relations with state party Principal General Secretary and Patna MP Ramkripal Yadav and Bihar unit president of Rashtriya Yuva Janata Dal and former MLA Satish Chandra. The insiders said given Rajak's closeness to Lalu Prasad and opposition leader in Bihar Assembly Rabri Devi, his resignation could be rejected.
Rajak, a prominent dalit face of the party, is a third term member of the state assembly.Rajak, whose name is doing rounds as prospective party candidate for the newly created Jamui (reserved) parliament seat, was also very close to former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar.
