River Linking in Bihar

WRD department minister Ramashray Prasad Singhinformed the House about 19 river-linking schemes to check the menace of floods in north Bihar and fight drought-like situation in the southern parts of the state. He informed about the government plans to link rivers Kosi, Kamla and Adhwara basin, Kosi and Mahananda (Mechi) basin, Baya and Burhi Gandak rivers, Sone-Punpun-Harohar-Kiul link canal, transfer of water from river Ganga to South Bihar, networking of traditional irrigations systems of "ahars" and "pynes" with river basin irrigation networks, Kohra-Chandrawat link, Burhi Gandak-Sone-Baya-Ganga link, Bagmati-Burhi Gandak link and Kosi-Ganga link.
